Andy Morris Awarded MBE
In this year’s Birthday Honours one of our teaching staff has been awarded an MBE for his services to special education.
Mr Andy Morris began teaching at Westcroft School in September 1985, and fifteen years ago he moved to Timken Vocational Centre in Blakenhall to set up a centre to help special educational needs pupils learn skills to help them find employment when they leave school.
Mr Morris said “I’m humbled and delighted. This was something that was completely unexpected but lovely to have the recognition for all the effort that’s been put in. The award was really a team effort; it’s on of those things that isn’t necessarily just about myself – it’s everyone else who has contributed to this as well. If it wasn’t shared then my vision wouldn’t have gone anywhere. It’s a fantastic accolade – I’m over the moon.”
Congratulations and well done Mr Morris.
