WVTC Challenge Learners To Plan Public Transport Journeys

Wolverhampton Vocational Training Centre has first class facilities that enable learners to learn real practical skills in a very realistic work setting within the college’s workshops.

As well as preparing learners for the world of work we are also preparing learners to be as fully autonomous and functioning within wider society and have created some very tailored training to enable this.

One such area of need which we have identified is using the local travel network to access both work and social opportunities.

Following OCN West Midlands’ Accessing Public Transport unit qualification we are challenging some of our learners to plan and carry out various journeys using public bus, metro and train. This involves route planning, timetabling and identifying the most appropriate and cost effective fare, and of course, developing self confidence in travelling – something that most of us take for granted.
